*Or do some math. There are [[:Category:Fledgling|36 fledglings]]. There are 38 redirects, according to a quick count I did just now using memory. There are 266 articles in the main namespace, according to a count performed by <pre>a:before { content: counter(articles) ". "; counter-increment: articles 1;}</pre>. (Someone with SQL access to the database should really be doing this!) That leaves 192 articles, which seems to fit what I remember from before the crash. It also fits the list on [[Special:Shortpages]]. What can explain the missing 107? A limit of 1,400 bytes in article size?

:gives me the same result: 192, so I'm going to go ahead and update the count manually. :::Well, I got that SQL query from the mediawiki-l list last week but the best "official" count would also only count articles with an [ in them. So I was holding out on that but just decided it was going to be easier to fudge it. A quick visual scan of [[Special:Shortpages]] showed that they all looked like articles to me, so there we go. :) It was bothering me too but more important things delayed me. :As far as I know, there is no built-in tool in Mediawiki that does this. However, it is relatively simple for an external tool to analyze the database and count user edits. [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Kate's_Tool|Kate's Tool]] is one such tool, but the author's installation doesn't cover BoyWiki (and for the time being not even Wikipedia). The few with access to the BoyWiki database could potentially install [[Wikipedia:User:Interiot/Tool|Interiot's Tool]] and check for themselves.

== Coding Ideas ==

The idea of a Lifeline status indicator on the main BC index has been raised several times. This can be done with the aid of a simple SSI, requiring a small configuration change to the relevant directory in the vhost for that domain. The script is already available as we could just use the same one that provides the indication on the LL page. However, this is really a BoyChat administration issue as it is they who decide what goes on the BC index or not. Despite the regular recurrence of this idea it has been consistently rejected by BC admin for several reasons. In fact, the quote is not known to be uttered by Burroughs himself, but is attributed to him by another in a (possibly autobiographical) work that mentions or discusses Burroughs. The exact details escape me, but I'll try to track down some research sources for you. Due to the incendiary nature of the quote, it doesn't turn up on Google much! :) But there is plenty of other evidence that Burroughs and his friends visited northern Africa regularly to have sex with boys. Maybe not 12, but certainly at least 14, looking like 12. Burroughs lived in Tangiers and Morocco for a time (which is where he wrote Naked Lunch). --[[User:Atom|Atom]] 00:51, 19 July 2006 (EST)

Since then, I have been spotted at [[BoyLover.net]], [[Sure Quality Radio]]'s chat room, and now at [[BoyWiki]], which I try to dominate whenever I have time off from dominating the world.

I used to think of myself as a copyeditor, not writer, of wiki articles. [[User:Asch/Contributions|Editing a young wiki]] such as this one changed all that, and I now quite often hatch [[BoyWiki:fledgling|fledgling]]s about things.

(Asch avoids the use of "von", as the von Aschenbach of the story did not receive that title until he was 50.)
