New page

'' To avoid this ambiguity the variant special young friend is sometimes used to refer to a close friend. Neither term carries any sexual connotation.''

I think this is wrong. Sometimes, depending on tone and intonation, the terms young friend or special young friend CAN carry sexual connotations-to portray boylovers as people who do not have sex with boys or do not think of boys in a sexual way or to say that sexual connotations are not used when talking about previous boys one has been sexual with is to convey the wrong information.

I decided that its best to put my views here in discussion since editing it on the main article would likely cause some people a great deal of discomfort-however, in the interests of keeping the Boywiki encyclopedic, I think some discussion must take place about this.

All the best,

I don't think the idea is that the terms ''preclude'' sexual attraction or even relationships, just that the terms don't implicitly or explicitly indicate it.

: I agree. A lot of words can suggest sexual connotations if you say them a certain way. But just like "cucumber" or "banana" in the right situation and with the intonation can suggest masturbation, these terms are not inherently sexual. --[[User:Hínandil|Hínandil]] 23:42, 31 August 2005 (EDT)

*Lets do a survey of what everyone thinks-those who vote for "syf" to have a sexual connotation, please sign your name under that definition. Those who feel otherwise can sign their name under the other definition. [[User:Greencrystal|Greencrystal]]

:I like that idea. Just log in and put <nowiki># ~~~</nowiki> on its own line at the bottom of the list you want. No changing other people's votes! --[[User:Hínandil|Hínandil]] 01:55, 7 September 2005 (EDT)
