I was wondering, when it says "The person has acted on these urges, or the sexual urges or fantasies cause marked distress or interpersonal difficulty", what would count as acting on those urges? Would masturbation count? Leucosticte (talk) 01:19, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

I think it is like the bible or the predictions of Nostradamus, it's open to individual interpretation. --Etenne (talk) 01:52, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

This article is heavily skewed towards and biased by the views of the 19th and 20th-century psych-industry

  • Pedophilia is love directed towards children, is normative behavior, and may or may not involve a sexual element
  • Sexual attraction towards young people is not unusual.
  • Sexual interactions between young people and older people was not unusual, historically.
  • Pedophilia did not exist as a label or category of human behavior until "The Pedophile" was medicalized by Kraft-Ebbing in the late 19th century
  • Sexual behavior varies during the lifetime of each human, and may include sexual behavior with others of any or all age groups.
  • Very strong sexual attraction towards prepubescent children is unusual, but not "deviant" in the pejorative sense of the word.
  • So-called "harms" to young people from engaging in sexual activity with non-peers is highly exaggerated.
  • etc. etc.

I believe the entire article needs a very serious reworking. User4 (talk) 05:32, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
