This article is factually incorrect--"Speedo" is a brand name of sportswear--most famously the brief-like swimwear. I've never heard them called "trunks" and I'd hazard a guess that boys traditionally wore shorts, underclothes, or nothing swimming, not speedos. --Hínandil 13:38, 28 September 2005 (EDT)

I believe this article is also misnamed. The correct name should be Speedo and not Speedos (plural) as it is currently named. If it is renamed it could be repurposed as a disambiguation page or could contain an article referring to both the Australian swimwear manufacturing company and the swimwear style. The current page could then act as a redirect. --Atom 06:14, 2 October 2005 (EDT)

I think you'll find they are called 'trunks', in the UK, as I have said.

Speedos is also an informal word to describe this type of swimwear, even though it is a brand name.

When I say traditionally, I'm not talking hundreds of years ago.

(Mr. A)

Neither am I. I'm talking 20-25 years ago and beyond. More recent and "contemporarily" rapidly approaches. --Hínandil 18:17, 28 September 2005 (EDT)

Indeed, "speedo" has become a genericized trademark, which is a term used to describe words like "xerox" (xerograph) and "kleenex" (facial tissue). Let's consider taking a (partial) page from Wikipedia, specifically "Speedo (suit style)," with appropriate attributions and modifications. We can thereby save the debate for something more important, like what sorts of pictures, and how many, are needed to adequately illustrate the concept. --Afin 19:25, 28 September 2005 (EDT)

Swim Brief I believe is the non genericised term Vespucci 19:38, 28 September 2005 (EDT)

"Swim Brief I believe is the non genericised term" - but NOT in the UK!

Mr A -- Others on this page have been modelling behaviour appropriate to a collaborative, constructive environment such as this. That is, signing talk page comments with nick and date. If you do the same it will be a lot easier to track who has contributed what and when. (look for the signature button above) --Atom 06:14, 2 October 2005 (EDT)

Needs a pic

If any article ever needed a picture, it is this one! :) --Asch 21:46, 28 September 2005 (EDT)

Mr A at least agrees on that point!
Are you offering one? --Atom 06:14, 2 October 2005 (EDT)
I'm always amenable to looking at a cute little Asch, whether in or out of a speedo. --Afin 21:32, 3 October 2005 (EDT)
Hmmm, maybe I can get some boys I know to pose? :) Except that it's way too cold here now. :/
I tried looking for GPLed pix on Commons and Wp, but no luck there.
