Historically, boys who wore girls' clothing, usually for erotic purposes, are found in many cultures. An erotic purpose would be turning men on so as to turn them into prostitution clients. No one found it offensive that men were having sex with boys or turning boys into prostitutes. (What women thought about this was of absolutely no interest.) Partial or complete removal of genitalia (castration) was routine.
