A troll is a disruptive poster on a message board. The original meaning of the term, which began on Usenet newsgroups, was more specifically a poster who deliberately encouraged disruption by trolling with "bait" he knew would draw reactions and start fights. A troll in the classic sense rarely participates in fights — he just starts them.

On BoyChat, "troll" has come to mean anyone who posts anti-boylove or otherwise consistently hurtful messages.
