Germany is a country in Western and Central Europe, with Denmark bordering to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, France and Luxembourg to the southwest, and Belgium and the Netherlands to the northwest. A survey of Germans found that 26 percent agree that a dominant sexual interest in children is something that one can choose; 30 percent believe that people with a dominant sexual interest in children have taken a deliberate decision to have those interests; and 29 percent believe that people have the choice whether they have a dominant sexual interest in children. 62 percent feel afraid of pedophiles, 31 percent feel pity for them, and 84 percent feel angry toward them. 7 percent would have a pedophile as a friend, 10 percent would accept them in their neighborhood, 14 percent would accept them as colleagues at work, 34 percent would talk to them, 39 percent think they should be incarcerated (even if they have committed no crime), and 14 percent believe it would be better if pedophiles were dead (even if they have committed no crime).[1]
