Talk:Milk and cookies

From BoyWiki

While doing my BC Digest work I came across the following post from a poster considering using the nick name milk and cookies:

... And if you don't know the significance of Milk and Cookies, Spagetti and Meatballs, and Bread and Butter... yes, its more than just food for thought ...

and also a reply from Tyler:

"I remember reading in my ed psych book that psychologists refer to the ages when a child is 9-12 as the "bubble gum" years. These are the years that parents report as the happiest with their children. The children can participate in and talk about adult things, but aren't teenagers yet. (I happen to love teenagers and get along fine with them. I will *never* reveal my secrets to the general population ;)
I think peds refer to ages six to nine as the "milk and cookies" years.
Try to find something boyish that describes your favorite age of boys, and go with it!
Love," --Tyler

Since the articles are up and running there is no longer a point in debating the legitamacy of the term but clearly they existed pre 11/2001 Vespucci 20:58, 20 December 2005 (EST)

Hi Vespucci,
Is there a debate about the legitimacy of the terms? I wasn't aware of it. They aren't used now but at one time they were very popular. It's just a cultural thing, I guess. Terms go in and out of vogue. By the way, you have a unusual bit of text under your post that uses a peculiar syntax for specifying your nick and that includes a date/time string. I've noticed that many other users append that string to their posts. It seems somewhat useful. How do you do it?
Jim
You can use three tildes or four tildes. Orginally when I posted the article on the topics there was some discussion as to if I had imagined it. Personally I think there was a lot of history there in the before the before so as I find relevent details I bring them up. I know there was at one point a full blown site (and not the milk and cookies on either). Vespucci 20:33, 22 December 2005 (EST) (four tildes)
Hey Vespucci,
Ah. OK - BTW, I wonder if you could answer my second question? How do you get your nick and the date and stuff to appear at the ends of your posts?
Jim
Jim, the four tildes tells the wiki interpreter to throw that stuff in there. As an alternate to remembering that, you can go to Preferences > Editing and select "Show edit toolbar (JavaScript)" with JavaScript enabled, and you'll see a little bar across the top of your edit box. The second button from the right, that looks a little like a signature, lets you pop that in, with two dashes in front, like the way I sign mine. Mouse over the buttons and you'll find other neat stuff, too. --Afin 02:53, 24 December 2005 (EST)
Thanks! :-)
Let me just give it a test here.
