From BoyWiki

Hi! Welcome! This is your page! Do with it whatever you like! This stuff was put here just to help you get started. Delete whatever is here that you don't want! But it might be a good idea to read it over first, before you delete it... Then just click on the "edit" tab at the top of the page to start changing what is on your page (be sure you have logged in first).

Useful stuff

Certain very basic information is included below. The help pages contain much more, but reading them can be discouraging as they contain so much information.

The below contains an abbreviated version of what is in the "Help Cheatsheat" that I made (and Etenne made better), which you can see by clicking this link: Help:Cheat_sheet.

Logging in to BoyWiki

  • Put your user name.
and below, put your password. Be sure you type your password correctly, or it won't work! Use the correct "case," too.
  • MyPassword is not the same as Mypassword or mypassword!

Editing/viewing/adding new sections to a page

Click on the "edit" tab you see at the top of the screen to edit the whole page. For editing only one section, use the "edit" thingy you see for each section.

Most often used formatting marks

  • These are the five most often-used formatting marks, and what they do:
  • bold, italic, bold and italic
You use the "apostrophe" (the ' ) to make things bold, italic, or bold+italic.
Two apostrophes ( '' ) on each side of a word or sentence makes it italic. Three apostrophes makes it bold. Five apostrophes makes it bold and italic. Click to edit this section, and you'll see how it is done.

How to indent (make text that is not aligned at the left border)

Two wiki markup tags will indent a line. The asterisk ( * ) and the colon ( : ). You can use the HTML markup <blockquote>PUT INDENTED STUFF HERE </blockquote> to indent things, too. (Be sure to end the indent with the </blockquote> tag!)

When you view this page in "edit" mode, you'll see how they can be used. Experiment with them!

How to create a new page section in any page (which automatically creates a Table of Contents for you, too!)

==COPY THIS, THEN PASTE IT== into your article.

  • Of course, change the COPY THIS... and put whatever you want!

If you put three equal signs, then you get a sub-section ===THIS_MAKES_A_SUBSECTION=== into your article.

My Just For Fun Subsection

See how easy it is?

My Even More Just For Fun Subsection

That's this one!

Creating new articles

It's easy. One way is to just edit the browser address bar (the thing at the top of the screen that says "https://boywiki.org/en/

  • If you change it to:
  • "https://boywiki.org/en/My new article
and press enter, you'll be given the choice to create the article! (You have to be logged in, of course.)
  • Or you can type something like this:
[[My new article]]
then save the page. Then click on My new article and bingo! You're ready to go!
  • Oh--the two thingies: <nowiki> and </nowiki> turn off the wiki coding for the stuff in between them. I had to use them twice here, to make them visible (you'll see that when you edit this page). Thought you might like to know...

Creating links in articles

Links can be a little tricky, but you'll get the hang of them quickly.

This creates a link to another BoyWiki page: [[PUT_PAGE_NAME_HERE]]
This creates a link to a website other than BoyWiki (in this case, it's a link to BoyWrite: [https://boywrite.ivan.net BoyWrite])
  • Here is the link that [https://boywrite.ivan.net BoyWrite] makes: BoyWrite
If you need more help with links, please see the Help section.
  • Oh, if you put a link to a page outside of BoyWiki, when you click on "Save the page" you'll get an error. Then you have to answer the trick question--"How many letters does BoyWiki have?" When this happens, press the "Tab" key three times, then put the number 7 in the response field, and press enter again. (You can refer back to this page to get the answer to the trick question ( 7 ), or you can do like I do, and just count the number of letters in the word BoyWiki every time the error appears...)

Searching BoyWiki

The searching tool isn't the best, but you can type a word or two or three in the search field to try to find articles containing that word (or those words). If your search directs you to a page that already exists, but you are looking for something else, then just put an asterisk ( * ) in front of the word or words.

You also may want to check an old index of BoyWiki articles (but it is not complete) that you can find here:

Choosing a category for an article

  • At the bottom of your article you can put a category for it.
For example, books go in the category [[Literature]]

You type something like this at the bottom of your article: [[Category:THE_CATEGORY_YOU_CHOOSE]]

If you click on the following link (or right-click, and choose "open in new tab/window") All BoyWiki categories
... you'll see all the categories for BoyWiki articles. Try to use categories that already exist, instead of making new ones.
  • But don't worry too much about categories. Etenne will put them in for you.

Signing your comments in Discussion pages, the Agora, etc (but not in articles themselves)

Here's what you need to put to "sign" your comments, etc. It's four "tildes" ~~~~ You can just copy these here, and paste them after your comments to sign his posts. Just to show you what happens, I'll sign this right now! User4 (talk) 04:42, 4 May 2016 (UTC) If you want to leave a message for me (or any other editor) just click the (talk) thing after their name. When their talk page opens, click on the ( + ) sign you see at the top, and a new section will be created. Put a title for your comment, then add whatever you want to say! (Nice stuff, I hope...)

BoyWiki etiquette

  • If somebody else is doing most of the work on a page, it's better to make suggestions on the Discussion page of the article.
  • You can also click on the user's "talk" page--the (talk) thingy that you see after a user's name--and leave notes for him there, too, if you'd like.
  • Some people are stubborn! (Hey! What is everybody suddenly looking at me for?) Be patient with other people...
  • Generally, just be considerate of other's feelings. You, know, "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you".

So, what articles can you create?

  • Basically, anything to do with boys or BoyLovers!
  • Make an article about your favorite boy actor, boy singing group, boy film, anything!
  • Or write something serious: your experiences as a BoyLover, the good experiences, or any the problems you've had (not many, I hope! Like they say, "May all your BoyLover problems be little ones!")
  • You can write about your feelings about being a BoyLover.
  • Write about anything you have special knowledge about, that has to to with BoyLove, pedophilia (what an ugly word that is!), sex, etc.
  • Sports information about boys.
  • Legal information for BoyLovers.
  • Whatever!

Below are some "sample sections" for your user page:
