Nineteenth-century Spanish educator. Founder of the very influential "Institución lLibre de Enseñanza". Revered figure of the Spanish left in the twentieth century, two generations of people.

He lived a chaste life and apparently had no sexual outlet of any kind. At the height of the masturbation mania, he probably didn't do that either.

He was known at the time as "the Spanish Sophocles."
