Puff, the Magic Dragon is a song written by Leonard Lipton and Peter Yarrow and made popular by Yarrow's group Peter, Paul and Mary in a 1963 recording and is a song about a dragon and his young friend Jackie Paper.

Sometimes said to contain veiled references to smoking marijuana [1], the song has long been a favorite among Boylovers and could be compared to a modern version of the the Greek transfiguration myths [2], [3], [4] symbolizing the boys transformation into a man.

"A dragon lives forever but not so little boys

Painted wings and giant rings make way for other toys"
