Shotacat origins and use on the chans is similar to Pedobear and signifies (derogatorily) that someone is attracted to boys. It is unclear if this graphic first appeared on 4chan or 7chan. Shotacat is a less popular graphic then Pedobear and has never reached the level of public recognition or hysteria that the image of Pedobear provokes.
Shotacat, unlike Pedobear, seems to have some historical relevance. Its name appears to have been derived from the Japanese manga known as shotacon, often shortened to Shota.[1]
