Talk:(Boylove News Articles) - Mick Moran of Interpol and Pro-Active Pedophile Policing

It is essential that any URLs mentioned in articles be backed-up on archive.is to ensure that the link does not disappear, change, etc. One link in this article - the one referring to "shirtless boys" - has now been archived at: https://archive.is/NF3i9

If article links are not archived as described above, soon many will become unusable. Perhaps the original link should be given in articles, followed by an archive.is link to an archived copy.

I am not sure what "archive.is" is but if it's OK with Bernie then it's OK with me.

archive.is is a free service of archive.org available to anyone who wishes to take a "snapshot" of any existing webpage to ensure that a copy is archived on the web. Just use this link < archive.is > and read what it says. Bernie seems not to know that archive.is exists, or how to use it. It really is a valuable service, one which should be used more by us - we who see so much of what we do "disappearing" from the web. IMPORTANT NOTE: Only *individual pages* (the exact URL you enter) are saved. If the page has links within it, when clicking on the links will redirect to the *normal web*, and if the page linked to no longer exists then an error will be displayed. Therefore, *each page* must be separately archived. archive.is will *automatically* include all pages from the same URL together. To view a page at archive.is, simply click on the thumbnail, and the page will be displayed.

Off-topic: Please inform Kristofor on BC that some (a small part, only up to late 2012) of his cjat site is archived with archive dot org at this URL: < http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cjat.org/* > He can click on the archived files in the list which appears that he wishes to view, then at the next screen, scroll down to the "Impatient? Click here." link, and click it (if the redirect does not function automatically). You may make Kristofor very happy to be able to recover some of his site by posting this to BC, as he appears to be unaware of this. Unfortunately, the essay he did about "state-rape" was not saved.

Off-topic: How the *fuck* do I use bold, italic, etc. here? I'm sure it is possible, but rather than spend 20 minutes searching for information, it is easier to ask you for a link to a page with instructions. (I suspect that one would use brackets rather that left/right arrows for the hypertext markup, but then again - to test that by saving/reloading this page is a hassle and my keyboard is currently acting up so I cannot easily do it even if I wanted to.)

How the *fuck* do I use bold, italic, etc. here?

When you are in editing mode right above the field to input text, do you see the buttons at the top of your screen that say B I etc... Highlight what you want to bold then press the button.

When I edit, no such buttons appear "at the top of the field to input text". Only blank space.

It could be a problem with Firefox (for some reason, it stopped loading some images on many sites) - though "buttons" which have text associated do show the text when I hover the mouse cursor over them. Nothing like that appears here when I move the cursor around the empty space above the text edit field.

Could BoyWiki be using javascript? If so, the Tor Browser Bundle Firefox version strips it out from the page. (And no, I am not going to enable javascript for BoyWiki. I would have to be insane to do so. The Man could easily put an exploit on this site that "calls home" and identifies my real IP address, even though I use Tor. So if you for even a moment thought I should enable javascript - shame on you! You should know better than that... ;- ) )

Thanks for the link to the help. I'll check it when I exit edit mode.

I just viewed the page source of this page. It appears to be normal HTML markup for bold, italic ect. etc. Let's see if this works.

-- User4

OK - it works. Now, I know I can be an asshole a difficult person at times, but please remember this, OK? If a "scribe" (I hate that term as used here on BoyWiki) uses Tor, there is an add-on called Easy Markup that allows HTML encoding to be inserted correctly on highlighted text. It works fine here. You'll remember that, won't you? Please? Promise? ;- )

That is odd. I use Firefox and never have run into that problem. Remember it is best to use Wiki markup language whenever possible... and not HTML. I make the exception with <center> </center> because: <div class="center" style="width: auto; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;">Centered text</div> is just too long.

--Etenne 12:28, 27 February 2014 (GMT)

I'm glad you make an exception with < center > because I saw the div coding necessary, and said, "Whoa! No way, dude!"

Have you had "scribes" sign on, then leave after doing only a little editing? The Wikipedia HTML help page is really too much for the "average Joe Blow" (considering, of course, our normal IQ score is around 90 ).

If you have lost "scribes" that way, I suggest redoing a "Markup help" file as a BoyWiki-specific "Markup Help For Dummies" that gives the essentials first, then links to the more complicated stuff. Otherwise the Wikipedia HTML help page will just scare them off. BTW - you have mail.
