Talk:Pederastic relationships in history - Post-antiquity to present

From BoyWiki

Hi Etenne. We really should talk about the use of some editing tools. You could save a whole lot of time if you used some "tricks" with macros and with searching/replacing. I would be willing to explain some things to you (it would only take me an hour or so to write it up) if you are interested (Hint: You REALLY SHOULD be interested, if you value your time at all...)

Just curious - why the moving/renaming, deleting, and then recreating? It doesn't make much sense to me... Why did you do all that? User4 (talk) 23:32, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
per BoyWiki:Deletion policy BoyWiki Council or Free Spirits administrative action. The BoyWiki Council and our host Free Spirits reserves the right to blank or delete any page, in full or in part, at any time without giving a reason. --Etenne (talk) 23:45, 16 April 2015 (UTC)
per BoyWiki:IndependantUser policy, the BoyWiki users reserve the right to say "Fuck You, Asshole" to administrators who won't answer even simple and reasonable questions, and to cease to contribute their time and energy to BoyWiki, in full or in part, at any time without giving a reason. When someone visits BoyWiki and wishes to know the history of BoyLove through the ages

where is the clearly visible link on the main BoyWiki page which contains links to the series of articles on BoyLove by epoch, which this article is a part of? User4 (talk) 16:31, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

I am not sure what you are asking, do you want to submit a design for a new section for BoyWiki's main page or do you want to submit a complete redesign of the main page for consideration?--Etenne (talk) 20:08, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

The Azov stuff is so important that it belongs on the main page. People must be warned.

"What is BoyWiki?" - the description of what BoyWiki is about (and which occupies about 15% of the main page) - could be shortened, and a link put to further information. What BoyWiki is should be clear from the content which is displayed - the rule is "show, don't tell".

The links at the top of the page, "Encyclopedia," "Life," and "Entertainment" are misleading. The Encyclopedia link does not lead to a list of encyclopedic entries but to a jumble of arbitrary categories, ditto for the other two links.

The Fundraiser (which also occupies about 15% of the main page) is important but doesn't need to be shoved so blatantly into the face of the visitor, and could be made more discrete. It makes BoyWiki look cheap to have to beg money in such an obvious manner. The .JPG with a short description and a link is sufficient.

The "Did you know" somehow strikes me as "wrong" but I haven't figured out just why, yet.

The actual content should be highlighted. The content is what BoyWiki is about, but it is at the bottom of the page. There are 1000+ articles, but they are very difficult to find, as the the categories are all a mess. Remember the annotated listing I did of the available articles? That is an encyclopedic index of available articles.

Content should, first of all, be highly visible and easily available, according to the interests of the visitor. The visitor should not have to dig down through empty-category-after-empty-category-after-empty-category to finally find only one or two articles which may not even be of interest to him.

For example:

Category:Humanities

► Anthropology‎ (1 P)
Art‎ (3 C, 13 P)
Language‎ (1 C)
Literature‎ (9 C, 43 P)
Politics‎ (2 C

Category:Language - no articles

Category:Terminology - no articles

Category:Technical_terminology - no articles

Category:Jargon - no articles

Category:Buzzwords

...To find only ONE tiny article, the following:

Inappropriate child sexual activity is a buzzword used by sexophobes and antisexuals to damn any form of child sexual activity.

The use of terms such as "appropriate" or "inappropriate" are moral value judgments, and not the result of empirical scientific research into child sexuality.

All that clicking for almost nothing!

Enough for now - I'm very busy, sorry. User4 (talk) 03:15, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

I am not in the mood to write a long discussion about what you just wrote. I agree with some of the things you said and not with others. As to the fundraiser stuff, I could have our tech. guy write up a java script so a popup would appear on every page like Wikipedia does but I thought that would be more annoying.

As to the links at the top of the page, I agree and disagree. If I had time to work on the portals for the top level categories, I would prefer that the links would lead there... however the portals are still not complete enough and require continuous updating and as no one yet has volunteered to do this especially for category Encyclopedia... I think it is better to leave it as it is for now.

I still don't know why you are having problems finding stuff. You are the only person who ever reports this as a problem. --Etenne (talk) 10:59, 7 May 2015 (UTC)

Does it not strike you as strange that I - who can find almost anything if it exists on the Internet - has trouble finding materials easily on BoyWiki?
Why not go ask your "customers" what they think of your "product"?
Post something on BC like, "We appreciate your feedback! Do you find BoyWiki easy to use? Can you find the information you are interested in easily? If you could, how would you change the way BW is organized? What things would you like to be the most visible on the main page? What would like to have access to with only one mouse click on the main page? Thank you!" User4 (talk) 12:47, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
Yes, that is a good idea. However, keep in mind that some of the things simply are not changeable as they are needed for future expansion or are being worked on by other BoyWiki users. But I agree that it is a good idea to elicit community input. Of course, this will also be drawing out the trolls to comment as well... However, I did partially agree with BFG comments that the content of BoyWiki does need improving.--Etenne (talk) 12:56, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
OK posted, except for your last question "What would like to have access to with only one mouse click on the main page?" that is linked on the sidebar and like all wikis, all you have to do is click on the BoyWiki icon and that will take you back to the main page. --Etenne (talk) 13:18, 7 May 2015 (UTC)
