Talk:Polygraph

The punishment part of the Polygraph test for RSO on parole (as a parole requirement) is that they are not free nor is electronic monitoring. The average person released with these requirements by the time they reach the end of their prole is at least 20,000 dollars in debt to the state but it can go much higher then that. --Etenne (talk) 11:15, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

It's not really intended as a punishment, though, even though it's a restriction of liberty. It's intended to rehabilitate and maybe deter. Yeah, the terms of probation usually do require that the defendant pay the costs of his mental health "treatment". If he's indigent, sometimes the state will eat some or all of those costs and not require him to pay the full cost. In my opinion, if the state wants to force pseudoscience on a defendant at the state's own expense, that's bad enough, since it's a waste of the defendant's time and intrudes on his privacy; but it's really shitty to on top of that make him pay for it. On the contrary, it is intended as a punishment. It is just cloaked in hyperbole and misleading semantics. If I charge non-self identified BL's (i.e. GL's and Cl's) 20 grand for the privilege of posting on BoyWiki but don't charge people who I might consider more BL oriented... Then went and started garnishing wages and leaving people with not even enough to live on, I think they might consider it a punishment. it's not based on being a former prisoner as not all former prisoners have to pay this fee, it's based on who you are as a member of a Criminal class --Etenne (talk) 19:00, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay, you're right, it's intended as a punishment, but they'll never publicly admit that the purpose is to make people suffer. Lysander (talk) 20:10, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
