User talk:User4/BoyWiki's attitude towards saving BoyLovers from prison

From BoyWiki

You know in the time it took you to write this, you could have put that effort in to improving Spain, July, 2015: age of consent raised from 13 to 16. You would already be half way through writing the intro paragraph. I really don't understand you sometimes. --Etenne (talk) 16:56, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

What you have just claimed is incorrect. You said:
"My thought is that if it is just going to remain how it is now, then it should simply be a subsection of Spain. However if someone wanted to put in the time and effort of researching the history that led up to this law, who the major players were in promoting this decision, who sponsored the law, etc, etc..... and what role the US government or US NGO's played in putting pressure on the Spanish government to enact this law... then it would warrant being an entry on it's own. --Etenne (talk) 21:35, 21 June 2015 (UTC)"
...which is NOT just "writing an intro paragraph" as you have just claimed.

Instead of yelling at me that your beds not made... simply make your bed. What I asked is not unreasonable and not more then any other wiki would demand. If fact, it is likely, in practice, less than any other wiki would require. I make allowance that people are not professional wiki writers, other wikis would not. --Etenne (talk) 17:42, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
You amaze me. Do you have any idea how much work would be necessary to:
- research the history that lead up to this law
- establish who the major players were in promoting this decision
- establish who sponsored the law
- determine what role the US government played in putting pressure on the Spanish government to enact this law
- determine what role NGO's played in putting pressure on the Spanish government to enact this law
AND much of the material would be in SPANISH! So it would require weeks or months of first reading, then painstaking translating materials to just be able to determine what might be relevant! -- BEFORE even extracting the relevant materials!
A project such as that would take many many months to complete, perhaps years. And that would be for a fluent Spanish speaker.
As I said, you amaze me.
But I suppose I should not expect much from someone who doesn't understand how the order of English letters determines where a word will appear in a list. For example, in a list of articles on a wiki.
For example, take a look at:
https://www.boywiki.org/en/Special:AllPages
...and scroll down to "Age of consent".
But I don't expect that you will understand my comment above about the importance of the correct alphabetization of articles (by title) which are to be included in a list. You probably still won't, even after looking at the list. Like I said, you amaze me...User4 (talk) 18:05, 22 June 2015 (UTC)
Do you have any idea how much work would be necessary to etc.....:
Yes, as most 9th or 10th year students could knock out a halfway decent essay in an hour and a half... I expect someone of your expertise could do it in less time then that. Plus you have the entire internet at your disposal and I am guessing that someone at Wikipedia has already done at least half the research and work for you. A review of the internet News articles will give you the rest. (remember to cite your source) --Etenne (talk) 19:32, 22 June 2015 (UTC)

Deletion

User4 has been banned from BoyChat, so he needs to have some other venue for self-expression on these topics. As much as people got tired of hearing him constantly complain about Etenne on there, it probably had a cathartic effect and made him feel that he'd been heard. Now all those complaints have to be expressed on-wiki, because he has nowhere else to go. Deleting essays like this would deny him even that privilege.

I would support unbanning him from BoyChat, but I don't really know the whole story behind why that happened, other than that maybe he got on the Cogs' nerves (Rule 3 violation). We don't have a rule against annoying the curators on BoyWiki. Lysander (talk) 10:16, 23 June 2015 (UTC)

RE rule #3 - yes and no:) When someone becomes more of a liability than an asset to BoyWiki then I would be forced to make decisions which I don't want to make. There is not an editor on the planet who would have accepted that entry for publication as it is, without significant improvement. That is the bottom line. --Etenne (talk) 12:44, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
Also, BoyWiki is not BoyChat 2.0 in terms of chatting. I don't expect perfection with regard to user's work but I do expect people to put effort into their work and a certain level of professionalism. --Etenne (talk) 13:17, 23 June 2015 (UTC)
