BoyPlanet (other names: BoyPlanet.net, Boy Planet, BPN, BPn) was an online message board primarily for boylovers founded in November 2017. It was noted to have an almost identical landing page to BoyLover.net.

Unlike traditional boards, BPN did not permit the use of emails at any point. Members who register could not enter in or utilise an email account. As a result of this both password recovery and username changes were not available to any board member, including staff.[1]

There were various forums in the main board for subjects of interest to boylovers, in addition to galleries. The site featured forums in several languages, including German and Spanish. There was also a small section of forums dedicated to girllovers, titled GirlPlanet (though this was removed due to lack of interest in late 2022).

While BoyPlanet shared a theme very similar to that of the now-defunct BoyLover.net, the two sites are not associated with one another.

On August 10, at 1:14am U.K. time, it was announced via partner board Boyland that the site would not be returning.

History

The original BoyPlanet.net was created in 2009 as a space-themed boylove forum. It was short-lived and shut down within the year by its owner, who was using an unknown alias at the time.[2]

In late 2017, BPN's founder recognised a need for another board in the community and decided to recreate his former site. In doing so, he decided to borrow the theme of BoyLover.net. It was proven to work, owing to BLN's success, and would be familiar for older community members. The new site started development on October 24, 2017, and was released to the public on December 1, 2017, after just over a month of development work by Damien, Underdog, and several other BPN staff members.[2] Most of this period of time was spent setting up the forums and themes to closely match those of BLN, and removing all email functionality from the forum software.

BPN appeared on BoyLinks on December 31, 2017.

On March 9, 2018, BPN started hosting a status checker developed by FalseAlias for Ethos Magazine. Though initially developed for Ethos, in April 2020 Ethos discontinued its hosting of the status checker as the project was shut down.[3] Ethos re-opened later in 2020, but no longer hosted a status checker.[4] The status checker network currently consists of two status checkers, with the other hosted by boylandonline.com.

In December 2018, BPN changed its minimum age requirement from 16 to 18.

On January 12, 2022, BPN was taken offline by the hosting provider. In response, Boyland hosted a status page for members of BPN to safely find updates on the site's downtime.[5][6] On January 25, it was confirmed that the hosting provider for the site had terminated the hosting account.[7]

On February 5, BPN announced new hosting had been arranged though gave no information on when the site would reopen.[8]

On August 8, 2023, BPN went offline for unknown reasons. An initial investigation into this was started by the site's technician but was unable to find the source of the problem and escalated the matter to the site's host. The host did not respond. In the early hours of August 10 U.K. time, notice was posted at by Damien at Boyland informing that BPN was permanently closing and cited that the host had been seized under copyright law (DMCA).
