BoyWiki:Copyrights

From BoyWiki
Permission is granted to copy, distribute and/or modify this document under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation; with no Invariant Sections, no Front-Cover Texts, and no Back-Cover Texts.
A copy of the license is included in the section entitled "BoyWiki:Text of the GNU Free Documentation License".

BoyWiki is designed to be a free, open content resource that serves boylovers and advances the cause of boylove. To this end, all content-- unless otherwise specified--is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License (GNU FDL). This ensures that our content can be freely copied and redistributed by our readers. Furthermore, it ensures that authors of derivative works must allow its readers the same freedom granted by us to them.

This gives each reader certain rights but also certain responsibilities. The following is not meant as a replacement for reading the GNU FDL, but as a quick overview.

User rights

You have the right under the GNU FDL to copy and redistribute unchanged BoyWiki content. You may do this for free or for charge, but you must comply with section two of the GNU FDL, which means you must include the GNU FDL, the copyright notices, and the license notice, and if you do not add any other conditions to use of the text that you copied. You must also not use any form of copy protection to the copied text. If you distribute more than 100 copies (if you put the text up on a Web site, for instance), you must also comply with section three of the GNU FDL.

You may also modify BoyWiki articles to create derivative works and freely copy and redistribute your derivative works for free or for charge. But to comply with the GNU FDL, there are several requirements you must fulfill, listed in section four of the GNU FDL. This includes licensing your modified document under the GNU FDL, acknowledging the original authors, and providing a "transparent copy" of your document. For BoyWiki articles, this means the wikitext that is displayed when you click the "edit" or "view source" tabs of the articles.

User responsibilities

As a BoyWiki user, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to distribute anything you contribute under the GNU FDL. This includes anything you yourself have written. In the case of content you have written, you retain full copyright and ownership of that text as its author and you may continue to use it in any way you desire. However, by making a contribution, you release the versions contributed here under the GNU FDL, without invariant sections, forever, and this can not be taken back. If you want to add something that is already released under the GNU FDL, you must include a link to the original article with your submission.

Images that are contributed to BoyWiki must also be licensed under the GNU FDL.

Historical documents

Certain historical documents have not been licensed under the GNU FDL by their authors. In cases where it was desireable for BoyWiki to preserve a copy of these documents, we have accepted permission to host these documents without modification. In these circumstances, the documents are clearly marked as such at the top of the article. BoyWiki does not have permission to grant redistribution rights for historical document and you must contact the original author to obtain permission to distribute the document.

Signature pictures

No signature picture (sigpic) on BoyWiki is licensed under the GNU FDL but remains the sole property of its owner with all rights reserved. Under no circumstances may sigpics be copied and redistributed without the express written consent of their owners. BoyWiki does not have permission to grant redistribution rights for sigpics and you must contact the original author to obtain permission to distribute the image.
