1997 - A man with a lot of humanity - Poet and pedo Allen Ginsberg died on this date. Ginsberg was a supporter of NAMBLA, a fact that Camille Paglia says "is one of the things I most admire him for." She also said that "Ginsberg's celebration of boy-love was pure and sinless, demonstrating the limitations of Judeo-Christian paradigms of sexuality." Ginsberg himself said, "Attacks on NAMBLA stink of politics, witchhunting for profit, humorlessness, vanity, anger and ignorance.... I'm a member of NAMBLA because I love boys too - everybody does, who has a little humanity." Anne Waldman wrote a poem by Ginsberg's side the day he died to memorialize him. In one line she wrote: "Allen Ginsberg will never tell awkward teen boy / he's known since birth he's sexy again / from hospital bed, the boy stood at the window / while his mother sobbed / because Allen Ginsberg said he's dying today."
2001 - Sometimes it seems that all sanity is gone in this world - A 13-year-old boy was arrested in Britain on this date as a part of a series of arrests aimed at stopping the trade of child pornography. It apparently did not dawn on any of the geniuses that rested him that the girls in the pictures he had were about his age, and his curiosity about the female body and sex is exactly like just about every other heterosexual boy his age in the history of the planet. Every man who hid pictures from National Geographic under his bed as a boy can breathe a sigh of relief that the world is now safe from this "sexual predator."
